Cutting Crazy

I've owned a cutting machine Silhouette Quickkutz for around 5 years now, never quite got to grips with it but thanks to the new Silhouette Studio software my crafting has a whole new lease of life.

Cutting files are now available on my website for only £1.00 for 2 designs.  All cutting files are 100% original designs by me.  Different formats are available with more being added shortly.

Card sample created using my new Nouveau Style cutting file. I cut it three times in three colours and put the pieces back together some raised some flat. Added a gold mirri matt, a wee bit tartan ribbon (of course)  and an embellishment or two. The whole topper was then mounted onto an 8" x 8" card covered with a paper from my Nouveau Rose CD rom.

Floral Delights

Ken has been busy with the paintbrush again, this time he has created 10 stunning flowers that I have converted into toppers, decoupage and papers.

8 x 8 card covered with a stripey backing paper vertically and a horizontal strip added to the centre.  The topper was matted onto black card and a paper ribbon and bow added.  I then added a little gem and a sentiment to finish the card.

Waiting For Christmas

The sun is still shining which can only mean one thing .......................... more Christmas cards!!!!!

This one was created using my brand new Digital Downlod kit 'Waiting for Christmas'.
8 x 8 card.  I layered a backing paper with a punched border over 3/4 of it and added a large swirly silver peel off to the white area to give a bit of 'drama'.  The ribbon (believe it or not) is made of paper and is available on each sheet to match the topper.  A little trim of peel offs around the topper and a few 3D flowers finish the look.

Dance yourself Dizzy

I've called this card 'Dance yourself Dizzy' because blogger keeps inserting the pic wonky and wont let me rotate it!!!

I created this little dancing dude using the Digital Download

I made a little paper spring for him so he really does dance!

Summer Sun

Wooooooo Hooooooooo

2 Blog posts and 2 cards made in one single day!!!!!

This time I've gone for a Summer theme from the Sensational Seasons CD.

8 x 8 card (my favourite size if you hadnt noticed!) covered with gorgeous butterfly backing paper.
I layer of gold at approx 6.75" then a layer of backing paper at 6.5".  I trimmed around the butterfly on the backing paper so you can just get a glimpse of gold underneath and it also gives the card dimension.  I then added the topper, text box and ribbon tied with a knot.  The flowers have had tiny gold gems added to give them some bling.

Winter Wishes

It took me five attempts to upload this pic as blogger kept loading it upside down!!!

First card I've made in ages so to celebrate the sun coming out I've gone with the Christmas look lol

8 x 8 card fully covered with a printed sheet of crinkly paper (its amazing what you can put through your printer, you just gotta give it a go)
A strip of angel paper down the left hand side, I then added a topper and layered the curtains using foam pads.  A paper ribbon and flower were added and a dove in the top of the window.
The card was then finished off with a peel off message, snowflakes and some silver gems.

The card was created using the Sensational Seasons CD.

Forgive me bloggers for I have sinned, its been a month exactly since my last post.

Life as usual has continued to get in the way, with various business and personal dramas and dilemas to deal with.  Some days I think my duvet is the best friend I've got lol.

I have been working away in the background though with some fabby new cds added to the collection.

Unfortunately I've had to close the Digital Download website, it just wasnt paying for itself and I already have enough mouths to feed here so something had to give.  Apologies to those of you that did use it.

Anyway I have nothing happy or jolly to report at the moment so I shall go crawl back under my rock and brood.  I'm planning on winning the Euromillions tonight so hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.  I dont mind sharing with a few others so good luck to everyone x

They say money doesnt make you happy but heck neither does being skint and struggling, I know which one I'd rather be!!!

Oh ..................... if only!!!!

Think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts.

I thought for a while there I was completely losing it.  Life has been a bit hard lately and last week completely overwhelmed me.  Its so hard seeing your children suffering from health and personal issues even if they are 23 years old.  Once a mum always a mum and we just want to put a plaster on and kiss it better.

We have had so many family and business issues to deal with what doesnt kill us can only make us stronger .................. right!!!!!

I have to say a huge thankyou to all the love and support I have received from my friends near and far especially on Craftelly Forum, this is a place where most TV crafters fear to tread yet I have found this bunch of nutty crafters to be a truly caring, sharing, gifted bunch.  They have rallied round and supported me through one of my most trying weeks ever in the history of 'trying weeks'.

So a great big thankyou everyone for restoring this crafters faith in craft kindness.

Sorry for the complete lack of blogging at the moment but life has thrown a few curve balls my way and I'm having to take some time out to deal with them.

Normal service shall resume shortly.

This card was inspired by my most favourite month of all ..... Autumn.

I started with a paper pricking template (hard work on the fingers but very effected) I then built up the layers of many leaves and flowers all from the Autumn Leaves CD, the backing paper and text box are also from the cd.  I gave a very subtle hint of sparkle with 2 small dragonfly brads.  I'm thrilled at how this turned out and I'm going to put it aside for my stepmums birthday in September and enter it as this weeks card for the CD Sunday Challenge.

TIME ! ! !

TIME - where does it all go???

I really thought I'd be blogging more than I have and creating more than I do but time just seems to be on fast forward at the moment.  Its June on Friday, where did April and May go???????

I really need to sort out my time management skills, I thought they were pretty good until now.

I stamped and coloured this image from Carolyn Shores Wright - Red Throated Hummingbird stamp, I used a corner punch and gem to give it some detail on the corner and matted the whole thing onto silver mirri card.  I printed out a sheet from the Embossibilities Elegance CD and cut into the design so that it overlapped my stamped image.  I finished the whole thing off with some gems on the curl.

There is no scarier moment than the blue screen of death on your PC.  A word to the wise blog fans backup backup backup.  Thankfully I did so didnt lose any vital files.  It takes minutes of your time and so much better than the heartache of losing your photos and files.

There has been a lot of talk about cross stitch lately, I think its making a come back.  As a cross stitch love who has not done much lately I decided to have a good ole dig around the drawer and see what was what.  I discovered several finished items ready for framing and several more kits that were half started and half finished!!!   Well rather than finish off one of the unfinished items I decided to start something new!!!!!!

I got out the cross stitch software and after several attempts was finally happy with converting a photo of my beautiful grandaughter Rachel into a chart.  I made a start last night with the threads I had available (have to get more as never seem to have the right colours!!!)  Will post regular updates so you can see it all coming together.

Happy Stitching

This card was made using my lovely hubbys CD On His Travels.  He loves to dabble with a paintbrush and I've had to relent and give him a little bit of my craft space to get creative !!!!!

I've used an A4 card folded in half then the front folded back on itself.  I covered the inside with one of the matching backing papers and the outside with the other backing paper.  I layered the decoupage on top of the base panel then using just one of the decoupage elements I highlighted the bridge area.  I finished the card off with a matching paper ribbon, bow and sentiment.

The trees and shrubs are certainly blossoming like crazy this month with the amount of delicious rain they have had to drink!!!!

This card has been designed from my Home Tweet Home CD which features pretty artwork combined with photographic baking papers, a text box and simple little flower complete the look.

I love movies that mix cartoon with reality so thought 'why not do the same with my designs'.  I love the effect it gives.

Merry Maymas!!!!

Its cold enough to be Christmas which is why I felt inspired to get creative.  I have just made my first Christmas Card of the year using a Humphreys Corner stamp and papers and elements from my NEW CD - Essential Elements - Christmas.

I started with a stampers panel and stamped my Humphrey directly onto it, coloured with Promarkers (Cool Grey 1 and Warm Grey 1 for Humpreys skin) then trimmed.  My base card is approx 8" x 8", I covered the base with green snowflake paper then a smaller panel of coffee swirly paper on top.  A red ribbon along the middle enhances the Humpreys duffle coat, a matching red bow and a green text box complete the picture.

Everything on this card except for the stamped image has been printed from the NEW CD.

The NEW CD will be available from Friday 11th May, its packed full of backing papers, ribbons, bows, text boxes and *new* stampier panels.  Everything you need for a happy stamping Christmas!!!!

I wonder if all Palace Guards are as cute as this one.  Hard to tell under their large furry hats (apparently called Busbys but I had to Google to find that out.

  • I used an 8" x 8" black card base scored to create and easel card.  I cut a large diamond (to symbolise the Diamond Jubilee) out of holographic card and layered the guard and his little hut on top.
  • The base is covered in backing paper with a strip of bunting and a thin strip of holographic card to act as a stopper for the easel.  I finished the card off with a sentiment in the corner.
Palace Guard is available as a Digital Download for only 75p which includes a full sheet of toppers and a matching backing paper.

Up here in the cold north (although its been a glorious day today) we are very well known for our humour and love of all things tartan and whisky related.  This design will be available as a Digital Download from 4th May

  • For this card I used a large 7" x 10" base card.  the backing paper I cut at 6.5" x 9.5" and layered onto a silver pearl card trimming to a small border.
  • I attached 3 strips of tartan ribbon and fed them all through a diamonte buckle, securing them at the bottom.
  • A 5" x 5" square with corners rounded and edged lightly with ink make a great base for the Scotsman and his Whisky.  I finished the card off with some funky buttons.

Where would we be without the internet, I for one would still be working in a BT call centre and I nearly ended up back there last week when my pc died after being infected with a horrible malware/scareware virus!  Four days it took for me to clear but thankfully patientience, tea and lots of chocolate got me through the worst of it.

I seem to be taking over more and more of the internet these days with Facebook, Blogs, Gallery, You Tube and now my second website!!!!

If you love digital downloads please take a peep and let me know what you think

I've got over 100 listed already and hundreds more ideas whirring around in my little brain!!!!!

Have a great weekend and may the sun try a little bit harder to shine.

A simple yet elegant card using a large foam stamp from QVC stamped with a sepia ink pad backed onto some mirri card and enhanced with 2 papers from the Embossibilities Texture Prints CD rom, I finished the card off with a simple cream flower and bow and a few wee gems to look like an earring.

Summer is almost here, really it is !!!!!  I here a rumour that the British strawberries are ripe, juicy and sweet.  I've not had any yet but my little dragon friend has.

I created this card using the Dragon Dayz CD from my website

Dragon Dayz Video Tour and Card Gallery.

This is my entry into the CD Sunday Challenge Blog.

Created using the Rainbow Rose Collection CD, a wee bit of silver mirri card and some gems.

Feathered Friends

It may be very cold and very very wet outside today but the garden has been a hive of activity.  I've spent the last hour watching 4 or 5 little blue tits weaving in and out of the trees and bushes.  They were then joined by a little blackbird and then big black crow had to swoop in and spoil the party!!!!

Friday, 13 April 2012

I always get a sense of doom when I discover the date is Friday 13th!!!!  No idea why, I've just sat here minding my own business just waiting for it to go away, so far so good nothing major has happened.

Been a busy week here keeping the kids occupied during the coldest and wettest holidays ever!!!!  I pretty much guarantee that the sun will shine first thing Monday morning!!!

Normal service shall resume shortly with some samples and demos and babbling and blethering.

Have a great weekend.

Right on trend ............ not.
Once upon a time I was young and slender and incredibly unfashionable!!!!!  Why were shell suits so fashionable, they were once upon a time werent they?????

When was it ever ok to wear glasses that covered your entire face????  And the curly hair well lets not even comment on that!!!

But the leggings .................... at long last fashion has finally caught up with me, albeit 18 years later but I was a trendsetter I just didnt know it!!!!!  Funky leggings are all the rage right now, not quite sure how long the the trend will last (hopefully not long, cant imagine my butt in a pair of them now!!!)

I've showed you mine now you have to show me yours, come on my little trendsetting bloggers we all want to see your fashion faux pas!!!!!

A crafty prize for the best(worst) one.

Congratulations Janet if you can send me your address using the Contact Form on my website  I will get your card and CD off to you asap.

Thank you to everyone for your wonderful comments, stay tuned for more fun and giveaways coming soon.  The CD is now available on the website and if you find the bouncy little Easter Eggs on the website you can get 10% off.  Gotta find those little eggs though.

Yesterday the little blue tit had custody of the tree, today its Mr Squirrels turn.  We have a fairly small garden but its amazing the amount of visitors we get to it on a daily basis, I love it, I wonder who will be joining us tomorrow, a big bear, an eagle, oooh the mind boggles!!!!.  Before I stayed here I was in a city flat so only saw seagulls and pigeons!

So thrilled that the Nouveau Rose CD is finally launched which means its time for the winner of the card and CD to be drawn.  I will put all the names into a hat and I will get hubby to blindly draw one out the winner be announced at 2pm today.  Good luck to you all.

Did it really snow yesterday or was it just a figment of my creative imagination.  I have been having some pretty weird dreams lately!!!  Its positively tropical today like yesterday never happened!!!

Because of the bad weather it meant I could stay inside and get creative, work on the Nouveau Rose CD is almost complete but I took some time out to make a card.

Last push today to get the cd finalised, tested and ready for production then its craft room here I come.

Have a great day

Tuesday, 3 April 2012

I so hate being wrong, the weather men threatened snow and I didnt believe them one tiny little bit!!!  Woke up and 5.30 this morning and thought I was dreaming, went back to bed and got up again at 6.30 and nope it was true this is what the back garden looked like!!!  Its now 9am and still falling!

One week ago we were down the beach in the evening.  Children were paddling, students were having a bbq, surfers were surfing and we were having a great time playing with the dog!

Life really is throwing us some curve balls lately, I cant help thinking we are just one big big brother experiment and on another planet far away some little alien beings are having a real blast at our expense!!!!

Who knows what tomorrow has in store!!!!!

Monday, 2 April 2012

Woooo hooooo (ok I'm faking it).  Its Monday, its the first day of the childrens holidays and guess what???
ITS RAINING!!!  Its like some kind of law that it must rain at Easter!!!

The kids are all very creative so we'll just have to have a rummage in the craft room and make stuff, probably a mess but so long as they are happy then its ok.  In fact we brought down a huge box of photos from the loft last week so I think scrapbooking should keep them entertained for a while.  That way I can get on with some designing and creating!!

First of all its cuppa tea time.

Have a great week

Friday, 30 March 2012

I've spent the morning helping hubby digging in the garden ready for the patio and this afternoon working on my next fabulous CD 'Nouveau Rose', it is still in its infant stages but work is progressing nicely.  It will be packed with stunning toppers, backing papers, gift boxes, digistamps and more with the main focus being on the Nouveau rose and elegant ladies.  The roses and leaves all have an embossed look giving your cards dimension without the bulk.  These are all brand new designs drawn my little old me so even if you already have Nouveau Style or Sophisticated Ladies CDs this will be totally different.

The CD will be ready in mid-April but you could be in with a chance of winning the first copy as well as this card signed by me.  All you have to do is to leave a comment under this post and I will choose a lucky winner when the CD is ready for production.

Good Luck

Had a lovely day out yesterday but didnt snag any bargains, I did see at least 4 coffee tables I'd love to restore, not quite sure I need that many coffee tables though!!!

However whilst perusing the second hand shops I came across something that inspired me beyond belief in fact so much so I worked till after 9pm last night drawing.  Cant say anymore right now but watch this space.

Another gorgeous day here so must get on with some paperwork (bill paying booooo) then out in the garden for a bit before the weather turns cold and wintry ................... again!

Thursday, 29 March 2012

Another gorgeous sunny day here in Dundee so I'm off out for a bit with my daughter Laura and grandaughter Rachel.  We are going second had shop rummaging to see what we can find to upcycle.  Dont you just love a good rummage!!!  I'm leaving Kenny and the dog Bailey in charge of getting the patio finished.  He's done a little bit of crazy paving at the top of the stairs now a larger area needed for the picnic bench.  Crazy paving for a crazy family!!!

Beaded Watch

Betsy Button Bear

I love getting creative and have dabbled in most things although I've discovered that crochet is my Achilles Heal, I just dont get it!!!  Here are a couple more creations.  I seem to favour the same colour pallette, does anyone else find themselves doing this?

I fancied trying something a little different and originally my intention was to print onto vellum then emboss and create a parchment type effect however upon rummaging through the printable paper box I came across a sheet of printable canvas in a lovely natural colour.  My creative mind went into overdrive and I went in search of Hubby's painting stash where I happened upon a lovely 8" x 10" canvas in a soft natural tone.

I started off by inking the edges of the canvas using Rhubarb Stalk ink, I printed a sheet of toppers from the Rainbow Rose Collection CD I used silicone glue to adhere the largest topper to the top right corner, added a tassle, printed bow and embellishment.   I then stamped an image in the bottom left corner, this was not as easy as I had hoped and had to layer the canvas over books to give me a solid base, the back of the ladies head didn't come out too well so I used one of the printed ribbons from the topper sheet to hide it, adding real lace and some fabric flowers.  I used a punch for the butterflies and some stickles glue to add some butterfly trails.

This is the first time I've created anything like this but its definately created a whole new avenue using CDs and other embellishments.  Who says you can't be creative with CDs???

I often get asked if I have a blog and once upon a time I did but I never had anything interesting to say (and still dont!!!) But here I am attempting to blog again.  I will ramble and chatter and hopefully once in a while inspire and impress you with some crafty creations.  I may even offer some blog candy (when I figure out whats its all about!!!).

So for now blog post 1 over and out!!!
